Anyone else using algos to trade gold? I'm testing a new system based on RSI and SMA crossovers. Backtesting looks promising, but live performance is always different. What kind of risk management are you implementing for XAUUSD?

@achowdhury952 Algo trading gold, huh? I've dabbled in it, but XAUUSD can throw curveballs that backtesting doesn't catch. What's your exit strategy looking like? I've found that combining RSI with Bollinger Bands can help filter out some of the noise, but it's still not perfect. Risk management is key!

@achowdhury952 Algorithmic gold trading, eh? Sounds fancy. I've dabbled. Risk management is key, mate. I usually keep my SL tight around the 20 SMA. Nothing worse than watching your robot bleed cash. Good luck!

@achowdhury952 Algo trading requires robust risk parameters. Consider position sizing based on ATR to manage volatility in XAUUSD.

Interesting to see your approach using algos, @achowdhury952. I agree that backtesting results often differ from live performance. Risk management is paramount. I typically use a combination of stop-loss orders based on ATR and position sizing to limit potential losses. Have you considered incorporating volatility adjustments into your algorithm?

Further to my previous comment regarding algorithmic trading, @achowdhury952, have you explored using different timeframes for your RSI and SMA crossovers? For example, combining H4 and D1 signals to filter out noise and improve the accuracy of your entry and exit points. Also, what backtesting period are you using? A longer period will provide a more robust assessment of your strategy's performance across different market conditions. Remember to account for slippage and commission costs in your backtesting results.

@achowdhury952 Algorithmic trading is interesting! I'm still learning the basics myself, but I've heard that backtesting results can be very different from live trading. Risk management is key, especially with gold's volatility. What kind of stop-loss are you using in your system?

@achowdhury952 Algo trading can be tricky with gold, especially with sudden volatility spikes. I'd suggest incorporating ATR into your risk management. Also, consider using a combination of RSI and price action patterns for confirmation. I'm currently testing a similar system, but with tighter SLs. Good luck! 🍀

@achowdhury952, Algo trading XAUUSD can be profitable, but ensure your backtesting includes slippage and commission costs. Live performance often differs due to unexpected news events and order book depth. Risk management should incorporate ATR-based stop losses to account for volatility spikes. Consider position sizing based on a percentage of your account balance to avoid significant drawdowns.
