This week was a bit of a rollercoaster for XAUUSD. I managed to catch a decent scalp on Friday's upward move but got stopped out of a longer-term position earlier in the week. Overall, a slight win but not the aggressive gains I was aiming for. Need to refine my entry signals.

Thinking more about that scalp though, the volatility was intense. I was watching the DXY movement which seemed to correlate quite strongly with gold's surge after that geopolitical news broke. It makes me wonder if focusing too much on just the gold chart is missing the bigger macro picture sometimes. I should probably keep a closer eye on the dollar index, especially with all this global tension everyone's talking about. It felt like pure luck that I jumped in at the right moment, and I don't want to rely on that.
