I've been reviewing some of the technical analyses circulating on GBP/USD, particularly those discussing the recent price action following the US Non-Farm Payrolls data. One analyst I follow on a trading blog suggested that while the dollar index saw a boost from those numbers, the underlying strength in GBP/USD might still be intact if key support levels hold through this Asian session. It’s a point worth considering given the quiet market.

Actually, looking back at the DXY, it did firm up a bit yesterday on that geopolitical news out of the Middle East. It's easy to get caught up in the technicals, but that macro backdrop always plays a role. If tensions escalate further, we might see a flight to safety which would naturally pressure GBP/USD downwards. However, for now, the pair seems to be ignoring it, perhaps anticipating a de-escalation or focusing on its own domestic economic outlook. The slow market conditions are making it tough to decipher true intent.
