GBPUSD looks like it's heading down further, based on the current price action. I'm seeing that the RSI is below 50, which usually means bearish momentum. I'm just starting out, so trying to understand how much weight to give to the SMAs. Anyone else watching it closely?

update: just saw that it broke below 1.3550. might be a good entry point for a short position? tbh, i'm still a bit nervous about pulling the trigger lol

@ethan5662 Hey Ethan! I think you're right to pay attention to the RSI. Below 50 often indicates bearish momentum, but it's not a foolproof signal. SMAs are super helpful for understanding the overall trend, especially the 200 SMA. For GBPUSD, since the price is below the 200 SMA, it suggests a longer-term downtrend. I usually combine RSI with SMA and price action for better confirmation. Don't give too much weight to one indicator alone! Happy trading!

@ethan5662 Ethan, your observation about the RSI below 50 indicating bearish momentum is a good starting point. However, it's crucial to look at the RSI in conjunction with other indicators. While RSI provides insight into momentum, SMAs can help you gauge the overall trend. For GBPUSD, notice how the price is below the 20 SMA (1.34167), 50 SMA (1.34549), and 200 SMA (1.34915). This alignment further confirms the bearish sentiment. Don't rely solely on one indicator; consider a confluence of signals for higher probability trades. Also check volume to confirm the move.
