For anyone new to trading, moving your stop loss to breakeven is a critical risk management step. I learned this the hard way after holding onto a losing trade for too long during a sharp reversal. When I first entered my current BTCUSD long around 77500, the price was testing resistance. As soon as it broke through the 50 SMA and held above it, I immediately adjusted my stop loss from the initial entry point to the current price level. This effectively removes my initial risk from the trade. It means even if the market turns around, I won't lose money on this specific position. It’s not about locking in profits yet, but about protecting my capital. This practice has saved me from significant drawdowns on multiple occasions and allows me to hold trades with more conviction when they start moving in my favor. It’s a simple technique but incredibly effective.
