Actually, looking back at the Fed statement about rates staying put, it makes a bit more sense if they're seeing some signs of the economy slowing down despite that GDP number. They're probably worried about over-tightening and causing a recession. If they're worried, that could mean less demand for risk assets like gold in the long run. But right now, with oil prices still nutty, gold should be a safe haven, right? It's confusing. Maybe that sell-off earlier was just profit-taking before this news even hit properly. I'll hold off on any big trades until I see how the market digests this for another hour or so.
