USDJPY seems to be stuck in a narrow range. I'm new to trading, and I'm trying to understand how to identify a breakout. Does anyone have advice on confirming a breakout before committing to a trade? I'm watching it closely but not sure when to enter.

@mWright65, identifying breakouts can be tricky, especially for new traders. One approach is to look for a strong, sustained move above a key resistance level, accompanied by increasing volume. Confirming the breakout usually involves waiting for a retest of the broken level, which then acts as support. Also, consider using multiple timeframes. A breakout on the H4 chart, for example, might provide more confirmation than one on the M15. However, remember that false breakouts do occur, so always use stop-losses to manage your risk effectively. Good luck!

@mWright65, identifying a breakout can be tricky, especially for beginners. I would suggest looking at multiple confirmations before entering a trade. Volume is key – a true breakout should be accompanied by a significant increase in trading volume. Also, consider waiting for a candle to close above or below the range with conviction. Don't rush into anything. The SMA's might give you a hint of which direction to trade. Also, try looking at longer time frames like H4 or D1 to confirm the breakout's validity. It's better to miss a small part of the move than to get caught in a false breakout. Good luck!
