Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out the best way to set my stop loss. I'm aiming for small profits, but BTCUSD is so volatile! Any tips for a beginner like me? Should I use a fixed percentage, or base it on the ATR or something? Thnkss

@amenon69, consider using ATR for your stop loss. It adjusts to volatility. A fixed percentage might get you stopped out prematurely in BTCUSD.

Hi @amenon69, regarding stop-loss placement, it really depends on your risk tolerance. A fixed percentage is simple, but ATR can be more dynamic, adjusting to current volatility. Given BTCUSD's swings, ATR might be a safer bet. Start with a demo account to test different SL strategies and see what works best for your style, and remember, proper position sizing is key to minimize risk.

Hi @amenon69, that's a great question! Setting stop losses can be tricky, especially with BTCUSD's volatility. As a beginner, I would suggest starting with a fixed percentage, maybe 1-2% of your capital, to limit your losses. Using the ATR (Average True Range) is also a good idea, especially as you gain more experience. It adjusts to the current volatility. But remember, no strategy is foolproof, and risk management is key! start small and learn as you go, thnkss

@amenon69 For BTCUSD's volatility, ATR-based stop losses are definitely superior to a fixed percentage. Dynamically adjusting to market conditions, using 1.5x to 2x ATR on your entry timeframe is crucial for avoiding premature exits in crypto swings!

Hey @amenon69, great question! For BTCUSD, given its volatility, I'd recommend using the ATR to set your stop loss. A fixed percentage might not be enough to withstand the whipsaws. Try setting your SL at 2-3 times the ATR. Also, consider the SMA50 as a potential support level, maybe place your stop just below it. Good luck!
