For me, risk management is everything. I never risk more than 1% of my capital on a single trade, no matter how sure I feel. And I always, always have a stop loss in place before I even enter. Chasing pumps or trying to catch falling knives like @jessica1833 mentioned is a fast way to get rekt. Better to miss a move than to lose your shirt.
