Right, so markets closed now but thinking about next week. Gold seems pretty strong, above all the SMAs which is good. Gonna watch on Monday and see if it holds above 5040. If it does, might go long, but will keep an eye on the RSI too, don't want it too overbought before jumping in. Need to do some more analysis over the weekend I thnk.

Update: Thinking about my strategy for Monday a bit more... if it gaps up over the weekend, I'm not sure what to do tbh. Probably wait for a bit of a pullback before entering. I'm also looking at the pivots, R1 is at 5038 so we're already above that, R2 is 5052.97, so maybe that's the next target? Also need to consider what's happening with the dollar, that always seems to mess with gold prices. Hmm, lots to think about!

@ephillips875, your plan to monitor XAUUSD's behavior around 5040 is a reasonable approach. However, be mindful of potential false breakouts, especially given the current volatility. Confirming the breakout with strong volume or a subsequent retest could provide additional confidence. Also, consider the broader market context; any significant risk-off sentiment could impact gold negatively, even if it initially breaks higher. Manage your position size appropriately and define your risk parameters before entering.

@ephillips875 Solid plan, Edward. I'd also keep an eye on the 20 SMA around 5180. If it holds as support, that's a good sign. If it breaks below, might be a short-term sell-off. Good luck trading next week!

@ephillips875 Good plan Edward. I agree, gold looks strong but that RSI is screaming for a pullback. 5040 seems a bit low to me though, I'd be watching closer to the 5250-5260 area as a potential support if it dips. Also keep an eye on the dollar index (DXY), it's been inversely correlated lately. A stronger dollar could definitely put a damper on gold's rally. Just my two cents, not financial advice of course! lol
