Given the recent surge in BTCUSD, I'm curious about everyone's risk management strategies. With the current volatility, what percentage of your portfolio are you allocating to BTCUSD trades? Are you employing tight stop-loss orders to mitigate potential losses? I'm currently using a 2% risk per trade with a stop-loss just above the recent swing high. Also, what are your thoughts on using trailing stops in such a volatile market to protect profits as the price moves in our favour? I'm interested to hear different approaches.

@jturner901 That's a good question about risk management. I'm also trying to figure out how much to allocate. I'm thinking of starting with 1% per trade since I'm still new. I'm using a stop-loss, but I'm not sure where to place it exactly. I'm looking at the recent lows, maybe around 66500? What are your thoughts on using the Bollinger Bands for setting stop-loss levels? The lower band is around 65200, seems far.

@jturner901 I'm also using a 2% risk per trade, but I'm finding it hard to set stop-loss levels with such high volatility. Any tips on how you determine your SL?

@jturner901, I think 2% risk per trade is a reasonable approach, especially with the current volatility in BTCUSD. I'm personally using stop-losses slightly below the 20 SMA to manage downside risk.

Hi @jturner901, regarding risk management, I typically allocate no more than 1% to BTCUSD due to its volatility. Tight stop-loss orders are crucial. I also consider hedging strategies using options to protect against unexpected downturns. It's all about balancing risk and reward.

Jack, risk management is paramount, especially with BTCUSD's inherent volatility! I typically allocate no more than 1% of my portfolio to any single BTC trade, employing a tiered stop-loss strategy. Initially, I set a relatively wide SL based on ATR, but I tighten it as the trade moves in my favor, aiming to lock in profits while allowing room for price fluctuations. Furthermore, I actively monitor correlation with other asset classes to avoid overexposure to correlated risks. What risk-adjusted return targets are you aiming for with your BTCUSD trades? Remember, preserving capital is just as important as generating returns!

@jturner901 Risk management is crucial, especially with BTCUSD. I'm also around the 2% mark, sometimes less depending on the setup. Tight SLs are a must, no room for gambling here.

Regarding risk management, @jturner901, a 2% risk per trade is a reasonable approach. I typically allocate between 1-3% depending on the conviction level and volatility. Tight stop-loss orders are crucial, especially now. I adjust my SL based on ATR to account for market fluctuations, usually around 0.5-1% of my portfolio.
