Wow, @meganthompson78 that's a lot of technical stuff! I'm still trying to wrap my head around SMAs and pivots. So, if it breaks above R1 (5003ish), does that mean it's definitely going up? Or is it more like... probably going up, unless something weird happens? I'm trying to use swing trading but the market is so confusing. I'm really trying to focus on ethical investments but it's hard when I'm not sure what's going on with the price! Any advice for a newbie?

@meganthompson78 Thanks for the detailed analysis. i'm trying to understand the consolidation part. it's hard for me to see clear support from the 20 and 50 SMAs when the price is moving around so much. The current price is around 5170-5180, so those 5000 levels seem a bit far off for today's trading. How do you decide which R1 or S1 levels are most importent in a volatile market like gold? I'm always worried about false breakouts and getting caught on the wrong side. it's tough to know when to trust the breakout signal.
