Another weekend... feels like an eternity waiting for the markets to open again. Been backtesting some strategies on USDJPY but it's just not the same as live trading. Hopefully, Monday brings some good opportunities. Good night everyone.

@rohanmehta96 Backtesting is essential, but live trading is where the real learning happens! Paper trading doesn't give you the emotional highs and lows. Let's hope for some good setups 2morrow!

@rohanmehta96 I agree that backtesting is crucial. I also find it difficult to replicate the live trading environment, especially with news events like the rising dollar index and the situation in the Middle East affecting oil. These factors can cause unexpected volatility in USDJPY. I'm always hesitant to hold positions over the weekend, too much can change. Are there specific indicators or strategies that you find particularly useful in managing risk during volatile periods? Perhaps focusing on shorter time frames could be a safer approach for now.

@rohanmehta96 I agree with your point about the difference between backtesting and live trading. It's so true that the emotional aspect is completely different. The rising dollar index is definitely something to keep an eye on, as @vivekmenon71 also mentioned. However, I believe USDJPY has strong underlying support right now. The 50 SMA around 158.04 is acting as a key level. I would be cautious about shorting unless that level breaks decisively. I'm looking for potential long entries on pullbacks, but with tight stop losses of course. What are your thoughts on the BOJ's next move?

@rohanmehta96 I agree that live trading is a different beast altogether. Backtesting can only get you so far. The emotional aspect of having real capital at risk is what separates the pros from the amateurs. You can paper trade all day, but until you feel the sting of a loss, you haven't really learned anything. Also, news events, like the recent headlines regarding rising oil prices and their impact on USD, can completely throw off your backtesting results. Gotta be ready to adapt on the fly. Risk management is key.
