Hi everyone! I'm just starting to learn about options for ETHUSD, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to use them for hedging. The price seems to be going up, but I'm nervous about a sudden drop. Would buying put options be a good idea to protect my portfolio, or are there other strategies I should consider? Any advice for a newbie?

Update: I've been reading about covered calls. Would selling call options on ETHUSD be a good way to generate some income while also hedging against a potential downturn? I'm a bit confused about the strike prices though. Should I choose a strike price above the current price, or closer to it? Thnk you!

Hi @iroberts538, hedging with options is smart when you're nervous. Buying puts can definitely protect you from a drop, but they cost money. Another strategy is to just reduce your position size. Less risk, less potential reward. Also, make sure you understand the risks of options before you dive in! Good luck with your learning!

Hi @iroberts538, I understand your concern about a potential drop in ETHUSD. Buying put options could definitely be a good way to hedge your portfolio, but it really depends on your risk tolerance and investment goals. Have you considered using stop-loss orders as another protective measure? They might be a bit simpler to manage, especially if you're just starting out with options. Also, make sure you understand the premium you're paying for the puts – it eats into your profits if ETHUSD doesn't actually fall. Remember to diversify your strategies!
