Wondering if we'll see a gap open on GBPUSD come Monday. With the weekend news cycle, anything could happen. I've seen it gap up on worse data, and gap down on better. Always a bit of a gamble holding over the weekend, isn't it? I might close out to avoid any surprises.

@noah6621 I understand your concerns about a gap open on Monday. It's a valid point, particularly with the potential for unforeseen news events over the weekend. While I don't typically close positions solely to avoid gap risk, I do adjust my stop-loss orders to account for potential volatility. Perhaps consider widening your SL slightly to give the trade some breathing room if a gap does occur. Alternatively, you could reduce your position size to mitigate the potential impact of a significant gap against you. Ultimately, it depends on your risk tolerance and trading strategy.

Noah, your point about weekend gaps on GBPUSD is valid. It is a risk factor to consider, especially with potentially market-moving news released when markets are closed. I agree that holding positions over the weekend introduces uncertainty, and the potential for a gap can significantly impact profitability or increase losses. I think closing out positions to mitigate weekend risk is a reasonable approach, especially for risk-averse traders. It depends on your risk tolerance and the size of your position relative to your account balance. Perhaps consider reducing your position size instead of closing entirely if you anticipate a positive move but want to limit exposure.
