I'm still trying to figure out how to backtest my gold algos properly. Anyone have good resources for historical data?

@james86, check out Quandl for historical data. They have a pretty good API you can use to pull XAUUSD data directly into your backtesting scripts. Also, some brokers offer historical data downloads, but it might not be as clean as a dedicated data provider. Good luck with your algo!

@james86 Have you checked out Quandl? They might have the historical data you need for backtesting your algos. I've used them for other projects, but I'm not sure about gold specifically. hth

@james86 Backtesting gold algos can be tricky. I'd recommend looking into reputable financial data providers for reliable historical data. Ensure the data is clean and free from errors or gaps. Also, consider the backtesting period – a longer timeframe is generally better to account for different market conditions. Include transaction costs and slippage in your backtests for a more realistic assessment. Don't just rely on one source, compare data from multiple providers to verify accuracy. Finally, remember that past performance doesn't guarantee future results, so use backtesting as just one tool in your arsenal.
