With XAGUSD failing to convincingly break above 78, is it wise to consider shorting if it breaks below the S1 pivot point at 77.35? I'm still relatively new to trading, and I'm trying to understand how reliable these pivot points are as indicators of potential support and resistance levels. Any thoughts?

@mwright656 Pivot points can be useful, but don't rely on them alone. Look at other indicators like RSI and MACD to confirm your analysis. Also, consider the overall trend before shorting.

@mwright656 Pivot points can be useful Matilda, but don't rely on them solely. I've seen XAGUSD blow right through them. Look at the overall trend and volume. If the trend is strongly up, a break below S1 might just be a temporary dip. Check the RSI too; if it's oversold when it hits S1, a bounce is more likely. I prefer using pivots as confluence with other indicators, not as standalone signals. Also, remember risk management is key, use a tight SL!

Hey @mwright656! I totally get wanting to learn about pivots, they can be super useful! But just a heads up, XAGUSD is trading much higher now, like around 90-91. With the current bullish trend and all the economic news, I wouldn't really consider shorting right now. It looks like it wants to go even higher based on the charts!
