Friday's close on USDJPY was a bit of a letdown. Seemed like it should have held the gains better. The dip below 158.30 felt a bit like a shakeout. Curious to see if there's a gap open Monday given all the geopolitical noise lately, especially with that Strait of Hormuz situation.

And thinking about that oil news, it's weird how events so far away can mess with your trading plans. The fact that the Strait of Hormuz thing was apparently a 'false alarm' after all is also kinda unsettling. Makes you question how much is real news and how much is just noise designed to cause volatility. I've been looking at some old charts and the price action around major geopolitical events can be wild. For USDJPY specifically, it's usually seen as a risk-on/risk-off pair, so if things globally get hairy, the yen might strengthen, pushing this pair down. I'm just hoping for a quiet open Monday, but realistically, that's unlikely.

@SolarFlare20 Yeah, I agree on the shakeout feel. It's like the big players know where retail is positioned and just nudge it before the weekend. That oil news about the Strait of Hormuz is definitely adding to the uncertainty, even if it's not directly USDJPY. Makes you wonder if it'll spill over into FX markets, driving safe havens like the yen up or down depending on risk appetite. I'm just hoping for a clean open without a massive gap that wipes out my careful weekend adjustments. This pair has been so sticky around the 159 level for ages, it's almost frustrating. I was thinking maybe we'd see a breakout attempt last week, but it fizzled out. Maybe next week holds more promise.

Hey @KevinWhite22, yeah that Strait of Hormuz thing had me spooked for a bit too. Glad to hear it was mostly a false alarm though, that kind of news can really mess with your head.

@KevinWhite22 Yeah, I totally get what you mean about the Strait of Hormuz thing messing with plans. It's crazy how fast things can change and make you question everything you thought was solid. 😅
