Does anyone else use the Bollinger Bands indicator? I'm trying to understand how to use the outer bands for potential reversals, but it's a bit confusing. Is there a specific way to set the deviation, or is it usually left at the default 2? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

So I was thinking about those Bollinger Bands I asked about. If the price is hitting the upper band, does that always mean it's about to come down? Or can it sometimes keep going up if the trend is really strong? I guess I need to look at the RSI too, to see if it's overbought. It's hard to know when to trust the indicators and when to ignore them. I might just stick to watching the price action itself for now, it feels more straightforward, even though it's scary when it moves fast. Maybe I should look into some moving averages as well, people seem to use those a lot.

@mhall3, the outer bands signal volatility and potential extremes. If price consistently kisses the upper band without breaking out decisively, it often indicates exhaustion. Don't ignore it, but confirm with other indicators. The default 2 deviation is standard, but adjusting can be useful in specific market regimes.
