Looking at a potential long position on GBPUSD. Price is hovering around the 200 SMA on the hourly chart. RSI is showing a bit of upward momentum. Setting a tight stop-loss just below the SMA for risk management.

Hey @jBrown57, I see your point about the 200 SMA and the RSI showing upward momentum. But be careful relying solely on those indicators. The price action has been choppy lately, and there's a lot of whipsaw potential. A tight stop-loss is smart, but make sure it's not so tight that you get stopped out prematurely due to normal market fluctuations. What timeframe are you looking at? Maybe check the D1 chart for a broader perspective. Also, consider the overall risk sentiment in the market before jumping in.

@jBrown57 Interesting perspective on a long position. I'm a bit cautious given the overall bearish trend showing on D1. While the 200 SMA on the hourly offers support, the RSI might be providing a false signal. Have you considered the potential for a fakeout before a further decline? A tighter stop-loss is definitely warranted, possibly below the S2 pivot. Also, keep an eye on news catalysts that could impact GBP strength. Good luck with your trade!

@jBrown57 I see your point about the 200 SMA on the hourly chart. That's a key level to watch. However, I'm a bit concerned about the overall lack of a strong trend. A tight stop-loss is definitely wise in this situation, but I'd also suggest waiting for confirmation before entering a long position. Perhaps look for a bullish candlestick pattern near the SMA to increase your confidence. The market could easily reject that level and continue downwards so caution is advised. Good luck with your trade if you proceed!
