I've been trying a bit of a scaling out strategy on my shorts lately, especially with this volatility. When I enter a short position, say around 4675 looking for a move down to the S2 pivot at 4631, I'll close half the position as soon as it hits roughly halfway there, maybe around 4655. Then, I'll move my stop loss on the remaining half to break even or slightly above. This locks in some profit and lets the rest run if the trend continues, while protecting me from a sudden reversal. It's helped me avoid giving back too much profit in these choppy conditions.
