Frequently Asked Questions

What is USDJPY?

USDJPY represents the exchange rate between the US dollar (USD) and the Japanese yen (JPY). It is the second most traded forex pair globally and is heavily influenced by the interest rate differential between the US and Japan.

Why is the Japanese yen considered a safe haven?

The yen acts as a safe haven due to Japan's large net international investment position, current account surpluses, and the carry trade unwinding effect. During global risk-off events, traders tend to buy yen, pushing USDJPY lower.

What factors affect USDJPY?

USDJPY is primarily driven by the Fed-BoJ interest rate differential, US Treasury yields, risk sentiment, Bank of Japan currency intervention, and Japanese trade data. The pair is particularly sensitive to changes in US 10-year yields.

This USDJPY sideway action is insane. Anyone else watching the 156.20 support level? It's been tested like 5 times in the last few hours. If that breaks, where do you think it's headed? Seems like the Yen intervention news is really holding it back from any real movement.

US Dollar just tanked AGAIN after that GDP miss and the yen intervention news? This is what I've been waiting for! USDJPY is looking ripe for a massive drop now, especially with the RSI at these levels. Time to load up on shorts.

Seriously, the spreads on USDJPY right now are a joke. It's dead quiet, barely moving, and my broker is widening them like crazy. Makes scalping impossible when you're getting slippage on every single tick. Feels like they're just bleeding us dry during these slow sessions. Can't wait for liquidity to pick up so I can actually make some pips without fighting the spread.

This Asian session is a joke for USDJPY, honestly. Spreads are wider than a barn door. Feels like my broker is just eating my potential profits before I even get a chance. Can't even scalp properly without feeling like I'm fighting the spread itself. Anyone else feel this way?

Well, managed to catch that little dip in USDJPY overnight. Saw the RSI heading towards 20 on the H1 and figured there was a decent chance for a short-term bounce. Set a tight SL just above the S1 pivot at 156.40. It bounced exactly off the S2 at 156.21, nice. Took profit around 156.50. Not a massive winner, maybe 30 pips, but it's better than sitting around in this sleepy market. Still watching the 200 SMA though, that's a big resistance level if we start to climb back up. For now, the bears seem to have control. Glad I wasn't asleep when it happened, lol. Time for some coffee to wake up properly.
