Okay, so EURUSD is below the 200 SMA at 1.18476. Does that usually mean it's going to keep going down? I'm trying to learn how to use SMAs to predict the trend, but it's a bit confusing still 🤔

@lcook446, don't rely on just one SMA! Look at the 20, 50, and 200 SMAs together. If the price is below all of them, it *might* indicate a downtrend, but it's not a guarantee. Also, consider other indicators like RSI or MACD for confirmation. Practice makes perfect!

Hi @lcook446, a price below the 200 SMA can suggest a downtrend, but it's not a guaranteed signal. Look at the trend's strength and consider other indicators. Is the 50 SMA also below the 200 SMA? Is there increasing volume on the down moves? These can add more weight to the bearish signal. Also, SMAs lag the price, so be careful!

@lcook446 Lily, it's a good question about the 200 SMA. While price being below the 200 SMA often suggests a downtrend, it's not a guaranteed predictor. You also have to consider other factors. Look at the angle of the SMA itself. Is it trending downwards or is it flat? Also, consider using other indicators in conjunction with the SMA to confirm your bias. For instance, check the RSI and MACD for confluence. No single indicator is perfect, so a combination of tools is crucial for more reliable analysis. Keep studying those charts!

@lcook446, SMAs are helpful, but they're not foolproof. Just because EURUSD is below the 200 SMA doesn't guarantee it'll keep dropping. It's more like an indication of the overall trend, but you need to combine it with other indicators and price action. Look at the RSI and maybe some candlestick patterns for confirmation. Also, consider the timeframe you're looking at. A break on the H4 chart is more significant than on the M15. Don't rely on just one indicator, okay?

@lcook446 Don't worry, SMAs can be confusing! Generally, if the price is below the 200 SMA, it *can* indicate a downtrend, but it's not a guarantee. Look at other indicators too!
