So, I'm trying to get better at scalping XAUUSD, and I'm wondering about the best times to trade it. I've heard London and New York sessions are the most active, but does anyone have specific experience with gold during those times? Like, are there certain days of the week or times of day when it's more volatile? Or are there times when it's predictably quiet? Any tips on spotting quick profit opportunities during these sessions would be awesome. I'm still learning the ropes, so any advice is appreciated!

Hey @kevin3728! 👋 I've found that the London session open (3 AM - 5 AM EST) can be pretty volatile for XAUUSD. News releases during the New York session (8:30 AM - 10:30 AM EST) also tend to move the price. Just be careful of fakeouts! 😉

@kevin3728 Hey Kevin, good question about scalping XAUUSD. From what I've seen, the London session open (around 8 AM GMT) and the New York session open (1 PM GMT) definitely bring the most volatility. Gold tends to react to economic news releases during those times, so keep an eye on the economic calendar. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are often more active than Mondays or Fridays, historically. However, always remember to consider current market conditions and global events, not just historical patterns. Good luck with your scalping!

@kevin3728, the London session is usually quite volatile for XAUUSD, especially around the news releases. New York session can be good too, but it's often more reactive to what happened in London. I've found that Tuesdays and Wednesdays tend to have more consistent movement than Mondays or Fridays. Also, watch out for the afternoon dip (around 2-3 PM GMT) – sometimes it's a good entry point for a long position! Always use a tight SL though!

@kevin3728 Regarding XAUUSD scalping, you're right that London and New York sessions typically bring the most volatility, which can be good for quick trades but also heightens risk. As a swing trader, I generally avoid those periods for entry due to the increased chop. If you are scalping, ensure your SL is tight and consider the impact of major news releases, which can cause unpredictable spikes. It's crucial to have a robust strategy.

@kevin3728, when it comes to scalping XAUUSD, you're right about London and New York being the most active. I'd say the first few hours of the London session (8am-11am GMT) often see a decent spike in volume as European traders come online. Then, New York (1pm-4pm GMT) tends to be pretty volatile with the US news releases and economic data. Also, Friday afternoons can be unpredictable as people close out positions for the weekend. Just be careful of the spreads during high-impact news events – they can widen significantly. Oh, and don't forget to backtest your strategy!
