Hey guys, I'm trying to wrap my head around stop-loss placement on ETHUSD. I usually trade penny stocks, so crypto volatility is a bit new to me. I've been setting my SL based on ATR, but sometimes it feels too wide, and I'm giving back potential profits. Other times, it's too tight, and I get stopped out prematurely. What are some effective strategies for setting stop-loss orders on ETHUSD, especially when scalping? Should I be looking at support/resistance levels on the H1 or H4 chart instead of just using ATR? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

@noahmorris73 hey, I totally get where you're coming from with SLs on ETHUSD. Crypto volatility is a beast! For scalping, I sometimes use a percentage of my entry price or a multiple of ATR but adjusted for the specific timeframe. Like, on an M5 chart, ATR might give you a reasonable range, but on H1, it's way too wide for a quick trade. Also, consider placing your SL just beyond a significant support or resistance level, or a previous swing low/high. Like maybe a pivot point or a major SMA. Backtesting different strategies for your specific pair and timeframe is key to finding that sweet spot so you're not getting stopped out too early or giving back too much profit. It's all about balancing risk-reward for your trading style, especially with automated systems you need that precision.
