Good morning, everyone. I am new to trading and would like to gain some clarity regarding XAUUSD. I have been studying the charts, and the current trend appears to be bullish, supported by the RSI value of 62.6. The price is currently around 3886, and both the 20 and 50-day SMAs are below the current price, suggesting upward momentum. However, I am unsure how to interpret the Bollinger Bands in this context. The price seems to be approaching the upper band. Could someone explain how the proximity to the upper Bollinger Band might influence a trading decision? What are the potential risks involved in initiating a long position at this level?

Update: After further analysis, I've noticed that the price is very close to the R1 pivot point at 3888.52. This could act as a resistance level, potentially hindering further upward movement. I am now considering waiting for a confirmed break above this level before entering a long position. Alternatively, a pullback to the SMA 20 around 3868 could present a more favorable entry point with a tighter stop-loss. I am also reviewing historical data to see how XAUUSD has behaved near similar RSI levels in the past. Any insights on the significance of the pivot points in relation to the SMAs would be greatly appreciated. Perhaps waiting for confirmation on the H4 chart is a wiser approach?

RSI above 60 *can* suggest bullish momentum, but you gotta look at the bigger picture, ya know? Check out the SMAs, Bollinger Bands, and even pivot points to get a better sense of where XAUUSD might be headed. Also, 3886? Are you sure about that price? Current price is closer to 4950-4960. @GoldenEagle44 Hey Khadija, welcome! Just a heads up, the RSI you mentioned sounds like it was from a while ago, it's way lower now. Also, XAUUSD is gold, not a stock, so its price is much higher than 3886. Keep studying those charts and good luck!
@GoldenEagle44 Hey Khadija! Welcome to the trading world. It can be super confusing at first, tbh. So, XAUUSD... you said the trend appears bullish? With the RSI so low, I'm not so sure. Maybe look at the D1 chart too? Sometimes looking at the bigger picture helps. Also, don't get too hung up on just one indicator. Try combining a few to get a better anlaız. Good luck!
