I've noticed XAGUSD has been quite volatile during the NY session lately, and sometimes those sharp moves can cause spreads to widen unexpectedly, especially if there's a news event or a sudden liquidity grab. My personal observation is that the price action around 72.50 has been consolidating, and the 200 SMA on the daily chart is providing some support around 71.42. It's not necessarily manipulation, but more the market reacting to supply and demand dynamics and stop losses being triggered. I'd recommend checking your broker's typical spread during high-impact news and perhaps setting wider SLs or waiting for calmer periods if you're trading such volatile instruments.
