Okay, so I've been doing some backtesting on XAGUSD, and I'm trying to figure out if there's a 'sweet spot' for RSI settings. I've been using the standard 14 period RSI, but it seems like it's lagging a bit during these volatile swings. Has anyone experimented with shorter or longer periods, and if so, what were your findings? I'm thinking of trying a 9-period RSI to see if it catches the momentum shifts a bit quicker, but I'm also concerned about generating too many false signals. Maybe I should just stick to my day job...

Standard 14 is alright, but I find a shorter period, like 9 or 10, can give you faster signals, especially during choppy price action. The downside is you get more whipsaws and false signals, so you gotta be quick on the trigger. Longer periods, like 20 or 21, smooth things out but you're trading a bit later. Depends on your risk tolerance and trading style, really. Backtesting is key, mate. See what works best for your strategy. I use it along with other indicators to confirm.
