I'm running some backtests on BTCUSD using a strategy based on SMA crossovers, and the results are… mixed. 🤷‍♀️ On the H4 chart, the 20-SMA is about to cross below the 50-SMA, which *could* signal a bearish trend. However, the 200-SMA is still acting as a strong support. I'm thinking of incorporating the RSI to filter out some of the false signals, but I'm not sure what threshold to use. Anyone have experience with using RSI with SMA crossovers on BTCUSD? What settings have you found effective? 🤔📈📉

@amelia03 Hey Amelia, totally relate to the mixed backtest results with SMA crossovers on BTCUSD right now. That H4 20/50 cross below definitely signals caution, especially with the price hovering just under the daily pivot. I've found that simple SMA crosses often generate too many false positives in ranging markets. Have you considered adding a volatility filter or perhaps confirming with an oscillator like the Stochastic or even a volume indicater? Sometimes the 200-SMA acts as support, but a strong bearish impulse can blow right through it. For algo trading, I usually layer in a confirmation step, maybe a retest of the broken SMA, before taking a position. It helps filter out some of the noise.
