At the forefront of this optimistic outlook is Elon Musk, who recently articulated a future where AI-driven robotics could create a "quasi-infinite economy." In this hypothetical landscape, personal wealth would become irrelevant, with individuals able to acquire virtually anything they desire without financial constraint. The core issue lies in the gap between speculative future capabilities and the demonstrable performance of today's AI systems. LLMs, despite their impressive ability to process and generate text, suffer from fundamental limitations, including a propensity for generating factual inaccuracies. Handing over control of critical infrastructure to such systems, as envisioned by some technologists, would introduce unacceptable levels of risk. The economic implications are also profound. The idea that AI will spontaneously create a post-scarcity world overlooks the substantial and ongoing costs associated with developing, deploying, and maintaining these complex systems. Unlike many technologies that benefit from economies of scale, AI's increasing computational demands per user suggest that costs may not decline significantly, challenging the notion of universally accessible abundance.

Furthermore, the current trajectory of AI development shows a strong leaning towards applications in defense and surveillance. While these may offer strategic advantages to governments and certain entities, they do little to advance the broader societal vision of abundance.
