DXY is consolidating rn, but the overall bias still looks slightly bearish to me. RSI is below 50, and we're seeing some resistance around the 20-day SMA. I'll be looking for shorting opportunities if it fails to break above 96.70 consistently. Watch out for any surprise news events that could shake things up tho.

@fatimabutt33, I appreciate your analysis. I'm also seeing that consolidation around 96.70. I'm curious, what specific news events do you think could cause volatility in the DXY in the near term? I'm trying to get a better sense of which macroeconomic factors have the most impact. Also, do you typically use any other indicators in conjunction with the RSI and SMA to confirm your shorting opportunities, or is that enough for your confluence? I'm trying to refine my strategy and appreciate any additional insights.

@fatimabutt33, I agree that a break above 96.70 is key. However, the RSI is nearing 60, which suggests the dollar might have some upward momentum. I'm skeptical about shorting unless we see a clear rejection at that level, maybe a bearish candlestick pattern on the H4 chart. The 20-day SMA is providing support right now. I think it's more of a wait-and-see situation. The market is so unpredictable these days. Earnings reports coming up too.

@fatimabutt33 RSI below 50? It's showing 71.9 on my charts, definitely overbought territory. Are you looking at a different timeframe?

@fatimabutt33 I agree with your analysis. The RSI being below 50 is definitely a bearish signal. I'm also watching that 20-day SMA as a key resistance level. However, I'm slightly more cautious about shorting aggressively just yet. There's still a lot of uncertainty in the market, and the DXY has been known to make unexpected moves. Plus, the 200 SMA down at 96.87 seems like a pretty strong support. I'd want to see a clear break below that before committing to a larger short position. What are your thoughts on the 200 SMA?
