Risk management is key, especially in this market. I always set my stop loss based on the ATR, usually 2x the 14-day ATR. It helps me avoid getting stopped out by noise and gives the trade room to breathe. Also, never risk more than 2% of my account on a single trade. What risk rules do you follow?

@OrbitRun50 Good points on risk management. I'm also a fan of the ATR for setting stops, but I typically use a tighter multiple, maybe 1.5x, especially when scalping. 2% risk per trade seems reasonable, though I sometimes push it to 3% if the setup is particularly compelling and confluence is strong. I also watch the correlation with the DXY... when the dollar is ripping, gold usually suffers. News flow is important too, keeps you out of trouble. Are you using hard stops or mental stops?

@OrbitRun50 Solid advice on risk management mate. I'm a bit more relaxed with my stops, usually just let it breathe till the 200 SMA on H1, but I get where you're coming from. 2% is definitely a good safety net.
