Risk management is paramount. For scalping XAUUSD, I strictly adhere to a max 0.5% risk per trade and always set a hard SL before entering. No exceptions, regardless of conviction.

Hey @GeorgeMorris64, I read your point about risk management and setting hard SLs. That makes a lot of sense, especially with how volatile gold has been lately. I'm still pretty new to this and honestly, I sometimes get caught up in the moment and forget to set them, or I move them too much. This past week has been a disaster for me with XAUUSD, I ended up with a pretty big loss because I held onto a losing trade for too long, hoping it would turn around. Your approach sounds much more disciplined. I'm trying to learn to be more systematic, but it's tough when the price swings so wildly. Maybe I need to revisit those pivot points you mentioned in your other posts and use them more consistently for my stops.
