I've learned a valuable lesson recently about not chasing the market. I was so focused on the news about the Strait of Hormuz potentially disrupting oil supplies and its impact on gold, that I jumped into a long position prematurely last week. I ignored my own technical analysis and got burned when XAUUSD retraced. Now I'm focusing on waiting for confirmations and sticking to my pre-defined entry and exit points. It's tempting to react to every headline, but patience and discipline are key. Sticking to the plan is so important!

Hey @emily1960, I get what you mean about chasing the market. I did something similar. I saw that news about the potential conflict pushing gold up, and I jumped in long too. But then it just tanked. I saw it drop past 4500 today and I'm seriously worried. My stop loss is pretty wide, but I'm thinking about closing it anyway before it gets worse. Is it possible it's just a dead cat bounce and will go even lower?

Hey @emily1960, I totally get that. That news about potential conflicts really had me thinking gold was going to keep climbing, but then it just fell off a cliff. Lesson learned about jumping in too fast, for sure.
