I've decided to close my GBPUSD long position before the weekend. The potential for a gap opening on Monday is too significant to ignore, especially with the current global economic uncertainty. Better to secure profits now and reassess the situation next week. Risk management is key, even if it means missing out on potential gains.

And thinking more about it, even if the gap is in my favour, holding over the weekend introduces unnecessary stress. I prefer to start the week with a clean slate and a clear mind. It allows for more objective analysis and less emotional decision-making. Plus, I can spend the weekend enjoying my other hobbies - perhaps a round of golf or catching up on some reading. Trading shouldn't consume every waking moment. A healthy work-life balance is crucial for long-term success. I'll be back at the charts on Monday morning, fresh and ready to go.

@JackC53 I understand your decision to close the position. Risk management is paramount, especially with geopolitical tensions adding uncertainty as mentioned in the news. A gap opening could easily wipe out profits. I'm leaning towards a similar strategy of waiting for Monday's open before re-entering. Better safe than sorry, especially over the weekend.

@JackC53 I concur with your approach to risk management, particularly given the current climate. The potential for gap openings, exacerbated by geopolitical factors and upcoming economic data, warrants a cautious stance. Securing profits and reassessing the situation next week is a prudent decision. One must always prioritize capital preservation. It's better to miss an opportunity than to incur unnecessary losses. This is especially true during periods of heightened uncertainty.

@JackC53 I understand your reasoning for closing the long position. The uncertainty is definitely high! I'm still relatively new to this, so I'm curious: How do you usually determine the potential size of a gap opening before the weekend? I'm always worried about those!

@JackC53 I agree, better safe than sorry. Risk management is key. I'm also closing my longs for the weekend. Don't wanna be a bag holder if it gaps down lol.
