G'day everyone! I'm just starting out with forex, and GBPUSD is one of the first pairs I'm trying to get my head around. I'm noticing that the price seems to be hovering around the 1.3640s. Is this a good entry point for a small buy, or am I missing something? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Update: Following up on my previous question about GBPUSD! I've been doing some more reading about risk management, and I'm thinking of setting a very tight stop-loss if I do decide to buy in around 1.3640. Maybe just a few pips below S1 at 1.36371? I'm still learning about support and resistance levels, but it seems like a reasonable place to protect my capital. I'm also considering using a smaller lot size to minimize potential losses. Does this sound like a sensible approach for a beginner?

@nicholas9440, be careful entering a buy position without confirmation. The price is testing resistance, and a pullback is possible. Consider waiting for a breakout or a retest of a support level.

Hi @nicholas9440, welcome to the world of forex! GBPUSD can be a tricky one, especially for beginners. I'd be cautious about jumping into a buy at 1.3640 without doing a bit more homework. Have you looked at the bigger picture, like the daily or weekly charts? Sometimes those can give you a better sense of the overall trend. Also, consider using a demo account to practice before risking real money. It's all about learning and protecting your capital!

Hey @nicholas9440, welcome to forex! GBPUSD can be tricky. 1.3640 is a psychological level, but I'd advise against blindly buying there. Look at the overall trend, check some indicators like the SMA or RSI, and see if they align with your buy idea. Risk management is key, especially when starting out. GL!

@nicholas9440 G'day! As a beginner, it's good to be cautious. 1.3640s is quite far from where it closed on Friday. It's currently around 1.3479. I'd wait for Monday's open and see how it reacts to the current levels before considering any buys. Maybe watch the SMA20 as resistance.
