My core trading philosophy revolves around capital preservation first and foremost. I never risk more than 1% of my account on any single trade, and usually aim for 0.5%. This means even if I have a string of losses, which is inevitable in this game, it doesn't cripple my trading capital. I also stick to my predetermined exit strategies; no emotional adjustments mid-trade. If a trade hits my stop loss, it hits. If it hits my take profit, I take it and move on. I find that adhering strictly to pre-defined risk parameters and position sizing eliminates a huge amount of the psychological pressure that leads to poor decision-making. It’s about playing the long game, not trying to get rich quick on one trade. Seeing how the USD is acting resilient despite the oil surge, it reinforces my cautious approach; don't fight the trend unless you have strong confirmation.
