Honestly, my biggest bad habit with gold is the 'just one more trade' syndrome. I'll be up a decent amount, then see a tiny pullback and think 'oh, I can just scoop that up and add to my winners'. Next thing I know, I've over-leveraged a small scalp into a swing trade that's now underwater. It's like my brain just forgets the risk parameters when gold looks like it's about to make a move. Need to stick to the plan, not chase every tick. Still, that rate hike talk... could be interesting.
