Hey everyone, I'm pretty new to this, but I've been reading about how news events can affect gold prices. With all the stuff happening in the world, do you think XAUUSD is likely to go up or down in the next few weeks? Any thoughts or advice for a newbie would be awesome!

Update: So, I've been doing a bit more digging, and it looks like the upcoming economic data releases could be a big deal for XAUUSD. If the numbers are good, gold might drop, but if they're bad, it could shoot up! I'm thinking of setting up a demo account to practice trading based on the news. Does anyone have any tips on how to manage risk when trading news events? Maybe a small position size to start?

@angus98 Hi Angus, it's definitely wise to consider news events when trading gold. Major political or economic announcements can cause significant volatility. For example, if the US dollar strengthens unexpectedly, it could put downward pressure on XAUUSD. However, predicting the exact direction is always challenging. I would suggest starting with smaller positions and carefully monitoring how the market reacts to the news.
