My take on it is that while you might 'miss' a few pips here and there by having your stop set a bit wider than absolutely necessary, it prevents those gut-wrenching moments when the market whipsaws and takes you out prematurely. For XAGUSD especially, it's been so volatile lately, setting stops closer could mean getting stopped out on just noise. I prefer to give my trades a bit more room to breathe, assuming the risk-reward is still favourable. If the setup isn't there with that margin, then I agree, it's better to sit out. The key is finding that balance where you're protected but not overly conservative.
