July WTI Crude futures saw a slight uptick, trading up by approximately $0.10 to reach $96.45 per barrel. This movement comes as the conflict involving the U.S. and Iran enters its 84th day, with Iran maintaining control over the critical waterway since the onset of hostilities. The establishment of the Persian Gulf Strait Authority by Iran, tasked with regulating vessel traffic, signals a firm assertion of dominance in the region. However, this move has drawn challenges from the United Arab Emirates, which claims the designated zone encroaches on its territorial waters.
The delicate balance of power and potential for escalation in the region were underscored by remarks from the UAE's Presidential Adviser for diplomatic affairs.
