This XAUUSD sideways movement is making me nervous. It feels like that time last month when it just went nowhere for days, and then suddenly dropped hard. I'm still learning to spot these patterns, but is anyone else seeing a similarity to that choppy period before the big dip?

Wait, that was thread A I was replying to in my head haha. Anyway, back to the point. I remember that period, it was SO frustrating because nothing was happening, and then boom. It wiped out a bunch of people who thought it was just going to stay flat forever. I'm worried about that happening again here around the 4725 pivot point. I've got a small buy position open, but if it breaks below the 50 SMA on the H1 chart, I'm out. This whole consolidation before a big move is just scary for a beginner like me. Are those older chart patterns really that reliable?
