And it's always when I'm holding a decent position too. Last week, I was up 50 pips, went to bed, and woke up to a margin call! I'm starting to think I should just close all my positions before I sleep. But then I miss out on potential gains... Maybe I should just set wider stops, but that defeats the purpose of tight risk management. Ugh, the dilemma of a daytrader.

@amit386 OMG, I feel your pain about the spreads! It's ridiculous how wide they get, especially overnight. I've been burned by that so many times on XAGUSD. Have you looked at any brokers that offer fixed spreads, or maybe ECN accounts? They might have lower spreads, but higher commissions. It's a trade-off, but might be worth it to avoid the spread BS. Also, maybe try setting alerts for when the spread widens, so you can manually close your position before it gets too bad? It's annoying, but better than getting margin called. It is always when you are holding a decent position too!!!
