Hello everyone! I'm relatively new to trading USDJPY, and I'm trying to understand the current trend. The SMAs seem to be clustered around the current price point, but the 200-day SMA is quite a bit higher. Does anyone have any thoughts on how the SMAs might influence the pair in the coming days? I'm particularly interested in long-term positions.

Update: After doing some further analysis, I've noticed that the Bollinger Bands are quite narrow at the moment. This often indicates a period of consolidation before a breakout. Given the neutral RSI, I'm struggling to determine which direction the breakout is likely to occur. I'm thinking of setting up alerts at both the upper and lower Bollinger Bands to prepare for either scenario. Any advice on confirming a breakout before committing to a position? I'm really keen to get this right!

Hi @AmeliaClarke, regarding the SMAs, I would focus more on the 20 and 50 SMAs for short-term trends. The 200 SMA is indeed higher, but it's a lagging indicator. In an uptrend like this, watch for the price to bounce off the 20 SMA as support. If it breaks below, that could signal a trend reversal. Always consider risk management! 👨‍💻
