When I decided to take that short position yesterday around the 4700 mark, my initial thought was to capture some of the downside that seemed inevitable after the run-up. However, I wasn't going all-in. Given the choppy nature of gold recently and the uncertainty around the geopolitical news, I sized it conservatively at 0.5 lots. This allowed me to sleep at night knowing a significant loss wasn't on the table if the market decided to go against me. It also gave me the flexibility to adjust the stop loss to breakeven earlier today, which I did. If the price were to break convincingly above the 50 SMA, I'd consider closing the remainder, but for now, this smaller position feels right for managing risk in this environment.
